Ohhh, I’m gonna have to say my first crush was probably Stevie Nicks. She’s one of a kind!
North Carolina pastor: Send LGBT people to concentration camps to die
Pastor Charles Worley of the Providence Road Baptist Church in North Carolina recently told his congregation that LGBT individuals should be rounded up and detained in camps until they’re all dead.
During a sermon on May 13, Worley berated President Barack Obama for claiming that same sex couples should be allowed to marry.
“The Bible is against it, God is against it, I’m against it and if you’ve got any sense you’re against it,” he said. “I figured a way out to get rid of all the lesbians and queers. But it isn’t going to pass in Congress. Build a great, big, large fence — 150 or 100 mile long — put all the lesbians in there. Fly over and drop some food. Do the same thing for the queers and the homosexuals, and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out, feed em, and you know what, in a few years, they’ll die out. You know why? They can’t reproduce!”
“I am not going to vote for a baby killer and a homosexual lover,” Worley added. “God have mercy, it makes me puking sick.”
Video of his comments were uploaded to YouTube on Monday by Catawba Valley Citizens Against Hate. The group plans to peacefully protest outside the Providence Road Baptist Church on Sunday, May 27.
“Our activists met with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Department and have the go-ahead for Sunday’s protest,” the group said. “Please tell as many people as possible. We need to line the street in front of the church with people with some common sense to tell the world that hate is not welcome in our community. And, believe me, the world is watching!”
Pardon my language, but this shit has got to stop. Fellow Southern LGBT folk, please take heart- this ridiculousness will slow down one day. We’ll be given equal rights one day. Peoples’ minds will change, and it will get better.
And meanwhile, if you can- if it is safe for you- do whatever you can to stand up against this ignorance and hate.
So, I am reading my POSC textbook and I have come across a phrase that is very interesting:
Article IV, section 2 aka the full faith and credit clause: this clause requires all states to grant full faith and credit t each other’s public act’s and records. This means. wills, contracts, and MARRIAGES that are valid under one states laws are valid under all.
Under the privileges and immunities clause: states are prohibited from discriminating against citizens from other states.
SO, why is it then, that states are allowed to say gay marriages in other states are not recognized in ones that do not allow it. This does not make sense.
My understanding is that the “Defense of Marriage Act”, passed during the Clinton administration, allows states to refuse marriages granted by other states- thereby allowing a state like Georgi to refuse to recognize a same-sex marriage (then legal in Massachusetts) performed in another state. Or country, for that matter. It also forbids a same-sex couple who is legally married in one state to obtain a green card for a nonresident of the USA.
Hope that helps and I didn’t muddle it up too badly. Chin up, friend- justice and equality is so close :)
What will same-sex marriage lead to?
Well, it’s already legal in more states to have sex with a horse (15) than it is to marry (or some civil-union equivalent) your same-sex partner (9).
So maybe I should say, “That slippery slope people whinny about.”
Great way to disprove their logic! I don’t know if my state has similar laws like that, but I can assure you that lack of laws against having sex with a horse doesn’t make people go out and have sex with a horse.
It’s not legal for me to marry another woman, but I still am attracted to them. It’s only legal in my state for me to marry a man, but that law is not compelling me to be attracted to men in any way.
The root of the problem is ignorance, plain and simple.
Got anything you’d like to ask a queer southern belle? Shoot me an ask! You’d be doing a gal a favor.
And as happy as I am that some people like lesbians and think we’re hot, we’re not lesbians for your entertainment. We are who we are, and as a member of the queer community I’d really appreciate it if some folks would stop dehumanizing me by viewing me as an object for their arousal.
GCI succeeded in lobbying for SB 1172, which is a bill that would outlaw the ability of state-licensed psychiatrists to practice “Reparative Therapy” on minors. Now we must now lobby for both Federal legislation and a stronger rejection of the mistreatment of LGBT persons within churches.
Like (maybe reblog??) this if you are dedicating to helping Gay Christian with both those goals!

There is SO much evidence that “reparative therapy” is completely misguided and cannot be done. Sexual orientation is nearly completely decided by the time a child has reached puberty and after puberty, is is very unlikely, even in the most determined of individuals, to change. That isn’t to say that sexuality isn’t fluid, because research shows this as well; but the fluidity of one’s sexuality is generally within certain parameters which the psyche has set by puberty.
This kind of “therapy” saddens me to my core. It is hurtful, abusive, and denies the loving acceptance of a God who created us to love and be loved. Please do whatever you can to stop “reparative therapy”!!!
This Southern belle is just warning all of you “Christians” who hate queer folk like me: I’ll bet Jesus wasn’t crucified for our salvation so you could pick and choose which of His children to love.

This video has probably already made the rounds, but it’s one of the most beautiful lesbian wedding videos/photo montages I have ever seen. Beautiful love like this gives me hope. Congrats to the couple (who I don’t know other than from their video) and every other couple who has made a similarly brave and beautiful commitment!
